can someone explain flagging for “consent always”
because it just seems……… weird for many reasons
oh my god this is a tumblr, i was already planning on making up femme flags every time i do my nails
maybe consent always is one of those really feminist submissive things
as I understand it, “consent always” is their way of flagging that consent is important to them and they expect it to take place before/during all sexual encounters
which is fucked up bc that shouldn’t be something you flag for like you would a kink. bc consent is not optional

thisss also flagging for “consent always” makes it sound to me like flagging for “consent sometimes” is a viable possibility
which makes me nauseous
the only consent-related flagging i would support would be something like “consent vigilante” which means i’m into punching your face and reporting you if you try anything without mine or anyone else’s consent
Flagging consent always, for me, means that when someone flirtatiously inquires what I am flagging there is an opening in the conversation where we can have a conversation about consent, either at that moment or in the future. I deal with non-consensual sexual interactions all the fucking time, even just people who think its ok to touch me on the dance floor without asking. And yes, it is fucked up is that people have non-consensual sex or sexual interactions. It is also fucked up that people are responding violently to someone’s need to flag consent and using words like “fucked up” “stupid” and “sad”. Nothing anyone does to protect themselves from rape and other non-consensual sexual interactions is fucked up. Consent isn’t just for kink and it definitely isn’t just for submission. I’ll stop flagging consent always when people stop assuming that because I’m femme I’m submissive or that because I’m wearing a short skirt my consent is implied.
