Speakin’ of nails, I am flu stricken and need to lie down and watch all the SVU so I did my nails since I was sitting so still anyway.
The stripes are a bit fucked because lol as if I have a steady enough hand to do that (worth a try tho, I have these tiny brushes I’ve been wanting to try out) and I put the base coat bottle in the picture cause its this beautiful pinky beige that I really enjoy.
So even though it’s been said that this painting the ring finger isn’t ACTUALLY always a femme flagging technique after all I’m going to use it that way cause why not as a queer femme I’m invisible anyway unless I beat people with clue-by-fours (though here’s a bunch of femme flagging techniques). I did my shellac with a colour I thought would be more fuchsia (spanking) but turned out red (fisting) both of which I top and bottom for so fair enough. All other nails are silver rainbow glitter, which apparently means starfucker/celebrity. ;)
Looking further into all this however I’m totally confused because I’m reading all sorts of colour listings that aren’t in the expanded hanky list- but there’s no formal list, it seems like people are just making things up individually (kind of maybe missing the point of flagging, which is so that you can express mutual interest and start a negotiation, right…?)
I’m such a Capricorn. Hah.
Flagging I’m interested in:
-fuck the patriarchy
-femme for femme
-blue apparently stands for survivor and not any of the things I thought blue stood for?
Tumblr femmes, please help me. I don’t want to flag for something I’m not intending, because that feels appropriative. Is it just “make up your own”, cause then I’ll stick with the traditional expanded code.
[[Image Description: Two photos stacked vertically of me (a pale mestiz@) holding up my hands in front of my face and purple shirt in order to show my nails. The top photo is brighter due to being taken with the “lomo” affect from webcamtoy, and the bottom is darker and more normal a picture. All the nails of both hands excluding the ring fingers are painted flourescent pink; the ring fingers are painted glittery silver.]]
Flagging femme for femme with the pink, and nonbinary but not genderqueer with the silver glitter. Dunno what pink would flag as. It feels odd to have only the ring fingers be different.
